Designing Speech Therapy Solutions for Children In Ecuador
Working with ReSurge International and a team of fellow Stanford University students, our team developed and tested solutions to extend necessary speech therapy to rural Ecuadorians born with cleft palate or cleft lip. Using human-centered design to understand the problem, clarify user needs, and prototype possible solutions, we built Super Habla, an at-home, gamified speech therapy program to help thousands of youth in Latin America to achieve social and economic integration.
Improving police-community relations
Born out of the Stanford d. School, DataPact360 (now my90) helps bridge the communication gap between police and citizens by harnessing the accessibility of text messages with the power of data analysis. During early development, I worked as a user designer to understand how we could bring police officers to the table and design the service to provide benefit to police departments as well as the public. Through interviews and need-finding research with officers and police leadership across the Bay Area, I gained actionable insights that were incorporated in the pilot and increases buy-in among officer corps in the current product.
Developing Syrian Refugee Youth Support
In response to the prolonged displacement of Syrians in Turkey, I supported an international NGO’s non-formal education programming by creating life skills classes for adolescents. For these children – who have been out of school more than 2 years and who may not be able to attend formal schools – these classes will serve as a means to provide basic skills such as numeracy, literacy, financial management, problem solving, critical thinking and other relevant and transferable skills.
Supporting Iraqi Christian Refugees
I traveled to Amman to conduct need-finding research for an international NGO supporting Iraqi Christian refugees. I interviewed 200 families that had fled Mosul when ISIL took over. My report was used for a 2m USD donor pitch.
Strengthening Civil Society Organizations in Lebanon
As a consultant for an international NGO in Beirut, I designed a monitoring and evaluation system to measure programs supporting local civil society development for a multi-million dollar US government grant.
INCREASING VOTER TURNOUT AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
The success of a competitive US Congressional race depended on voter turnout among the students of a university in the Congressional district. Our team was brought in to create and facilitate a design sprint with student leaders to uncover the problem(s) and innovate solutions themselves to achieve the campaign’s objectives. The candidate used the students’ findings to build out a student engagement strategy and successfully ousted the incumbent to win the seat.
